Modernisation of anechoic chamber at AGH

AGH University of Science and Technology in Cracow selected Artivent to realize a prestigious project entitled “Manufacturing and supply of sound absorbing and dispersing  structures used for modernisation of anechoic chamber”.

The large anechoic structure situated in the Department of Mechanics and Vibroacoustics at AGH University of Science and Technology in Cracow is a part of Technical Acoustics Laboratory. It is a room designed in a way to have the environment of free field due to application of certain absorption and dispersion elements on the walls. The construction of a chamber enables to take laboratory measurements of dispersion, acoustic power level and directivity of devices as well as other prototype and model tests. The chamber constitutes a reinforced concrete cube with outside edge of ca. 10m (volume ca. 1000m3). Volume utile (between wedges) is ca. 342m3 (6.7 m x 7.1 m and 7.2 m high). The chamber weights ca. 600 tons, and the ‘cube’ itself is situated on vibroinsulation supported by 100 springs, which reduce dispersion of vibrations from the road nearby.

Due to wedges placed also on a floor, people operating the chamber move along a mesh put half a meter above it.

The pressure spectrum of acoustic background noise measured during the day amounts to ca. 1.5 dBA (at night it even drops below 0 dBA).
